Default Saving issues and RAM - 12-03-2009, 08:20 PM

Hi all, I've been working on a project for a while now in 2.2, it's about 9megs or so now. Whenever I add methods or actions to it and try to save it it hangs and auto quits. Apparently it's got something to do with Alice eating up all my RAM. I've watched my RAM usage go from about 600 to 2000 while it tries to save the file. Then is freezes and quits on me. It would be sweet if I could continue to work on my project and finish it and save it. I have a decent system. Win XP dual core 1.6 Ghz 1 Gb RAM with 3 Gb virtual enabled. I see no reason why this should be happening.
Thanks for reading

That shouldn't be happening. I've worked with 18mb worlds on terrible, school-owned machines and they haven't run slow for me.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Alice?

Also, are you running any applications in the background?

And finally, do you have any sound files, particularly long .wav files, in there?

Hey thanks for the reply, I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling Alice and now it works fine. Wonder why it was happening though? I don't have any sound files in the world, and no I'm not running anything in the background.
Thanks

If you run stuff in the background, it can slow up and freeze Alice. Also, the same thing happened to me when I put a long .wav sound file into one of my worlds.

And you're welcome!
