I understand software well, but hardware confuses me. I would probably be fine at building it, as you said, its like lego, but its finding the right parts that I'm not very good at. I'm also not very good at maintenance, sure I can slot pieces together and plug parts in, but when it goes wrong I'm screwed.
That's why I like it all under warranty, I just don't want to have to send it for repairs when the only issue is a noise that isn't affecting anything. I could open it up and void my warranty, I do have warranties for all the individual parts, but I just don't think I should consider sending it back or opening it up unless the fan actually shows better signs that it is under stress.
Anyway, I think I'm going to contact the company and seek their advice.
