Does anybody know a good free WYSIWYG flash (or good html) web editor? One that is more based on the graphics side rather than the coding side.

Ive designed a webpage (in MS Word 2010) that I want to actually make into the home page, but I dont know how to do this.

Ive added a preview of what the webpage would look like here, is it possible to do this? (the preview might take a some time to load as it is actually a very large image).

I can design it for you, but I do not know how to do the user login stuff and also the categorizing of the thumbnails.

I'm a web developer/ designer now.

This probably isn't what you are looking for, but here is a link to one I use to write HTML.

Then whose computer are you using to post messages here?

You do not have to actually have a server being open to the world to see. You just have to learn how to host it locally so only you can see it for now. Then, once you get a little more experience and start working, then use your resources wisely.

I don't mean to be a nag, but Arty's post said that AODb will be back up in two days, but it has already been about two weeks.

Arrow AODb is back again (mostly) - 03-07-2011, 11:18 AM

Oh sorry, forgot to post, it is back online. I put it back online on Saturday.

What I've done that took so long and made no visible change at the users end:

- Restructured the files on the server and changed code to fit.

- Restructured code to make each script smaller, have a reduced compile time, be easier for me to read and be easier to change.
- Added some foundations for future functions.
- Super modified the Admin and Moderator panels so that they work better, are easier to use, have more features and are much more organised and nicer to look at. Added file managing, database backup, user control and status control features.
- Created a database handling tool for database files other than that of the AODb data file.
- Translated and transferred previous user and status data from the stupid format it was in into the same database format as the AODb.
- Changed the rest of the code to suit the data format changes.
- Attempted to eradicate bugs.
- Setup a new status system which allows me to put sections of the AODb offline at a time, without having to shut off the whole thing.
- Kinda tried to fix more bugs (but there are still some there).
- Designed the new layout of the database and asked on the forums for a tool to make it.
- Added back some missing data and put it back online.

Still some bugs, plus Heliohost (the server host) is having a lot of downtime and errors lately due to server overload.

Still to do (that I can think of so far):

- Finalise the features added above and properly destroy bugs.

- Again restructure the code and make it consistent throughout.
- Switch off traceback and add more security features.
- Add an actual bug report form instead of just linking to Google.
- Add a search function.
- Continue work on member features and release.
- Add audio and texture sections (as well as worlds and objects).
- Add guides / documentations section.
- Add an "other media" section.
- Develop a guides / media upload function for members only.
- Update Admin and Moderator and User panels.
- Add statistics (top downloads etc).
- Restructure everything (both files and code).
- Redesign all of the graphics and make everything neat and inviting.
- Make an AODb app again.
- ... etc etc etc ...

Yes! Finally! Everytime I would log on and see that there was a new post in this thread, I would get all excited, only to find out that it wasn't opened back up yet! Thanks Arty!

Ive thought up some new features, what do you think of:
  1. Uploading files integrated into the "submit an item to the database" form, rather than in a separate form.
  2. When uploading files the script grabs a potential preview image that is the thumbnail inside the Alice world or object.
  3. Packages - alternatives to zip files, like mini databases where the whole package can be downloaded as a zip, or an individual item from inside. Each item inside can be viewed in the same format as the database is layed out in.
  4. Collections - like packages except it just links together already separate uploaded items.
  5. Single views of items, where when you click on an item in the database you can get an expanded view of the item with in depth details etc on its own page in a new tab. This is different to the single view that currently exists, as the current one is just like viewing the database, except with only that item in it.

All of those would be awesome features, but I am not so sure how you are going to do the potential preview image thing.

Every Alice world and object (a2w and a2c) are zip files. Inside them there is a thumbnail image. After uploading the world or object it could use python to grab that image from inside the file.
