Default Desperatley Need Some Help! :o - 04-29-2010, 10:30 AM

me and my partner are doing a sort of pac-man game on alice.
the problem is we cant get the lollipops to disappear when she goes through them.
How can we fix it??
we already tried to use if/else statements, set the isShowing tablet thing to false, and put the opacity to 0 and it just doesnt want to go away!
Any suggestions??
We would really appreciate any help!
thanks.
Cindy&partner.

So you don't like having to click on them anymore? Good. I didn't like it either.

You'd need an infinite loop that constantly checks to see if your pac-man is within a certain distance (usually the character's width) of the lollipop. Implement that, and your only problem will be game speed, which I'll address after you've gotten this.

If you want you can see how I did it on my version of your game as an example. Also, in order to make it lag less, just add a "Wait 0.1 seconds" in the text for when you are not within a certain distance of the lollipop. That way it will only check ever 0.1 seconds and cause much less lag, yet still be fast enough to detect the collision instantly.

Didnt you just like take our idea and is calling it your own?
It seems like the same thing we had but all you did was add some more stuff to it. It would be like if we took one of your games and just added a few more things and called it our own.

Well the thing is, you didn't really have a lot before I started to edit it. I took your outline and completely rearranged it into my own format. For example I took out the arrow keys moving the person, and the clicking of the lollipops. I kept the maze itself (the one that came with Alice anyways) and the person, but I also added collision detection and a lot of other features that yours did not have, so I do feel comfortable saying that it is my program. I agree that it was your idea, but I still made it into my own version of your idea. You can still make your project, and you can use any part of the world that I made to help guide you. I was just so proud of what I created from your program that I wanted to publish it in another post.

Default dameria's version - 05-01-2010, 09:05 AM

I agree that Dameria's version is very different and if you publish things on the community then expect them to maybe get modified by other people, you have no copyrights over it and Dameria credited you anyway in it. I think other people editing stuff is quite useful sometimes. I have edited stuff, even Dameria's stuff and gave credit. Anyway, this means that you can edit Dameria's version and give thanks to Dameria in the published thread.

I was actually talking about his collision detection lag idea. The game itself I knew was originally your idea, but improved by Dameria.
