Well, the Alice team is updating it semi-frequently. The program is going to be slow, sorry. You can use some techniques to save the program from slowing down during codeing. 1 - Don't rename objects after the contains about 100 objects. 2 - Make a new section in the "events" to organize your code. This is just basic stuff, and Alice 2.2 is known for crashing on people. Sorry, but that's just the way Alice is. If anyone else has some ideas, please post them here.

1.)I noticed grouping objects together in their own folders made it run a tad bit faster, (in your object list, right click and create a new group)

2.) Simplify your code as much as possible, may seem like a no brainer but wrap your mind around a way to make everything as simple as possible.

3.) Same thing jedi said about not renaming objects after getting so many, (especially a problem with "dummy" objects)

4.) Avoid using to many 3D text in your worlds, try using Billboards(go to "file" in the upper most left corner of Alice and then click make a billboard, it has to be an image, preferably .jpg or .png))

5.) Avoid running mulitple applications while Alice is running (i.e. internet explorer,paint,gimp...ect)

6.) Lastly, if you import your own models, make sure they are as small a file size as you can possibly make it or you might end up with a world where you only have one object yet freezes do to the file size of the object

If you are stuck on a project, check out the tutorials I made here at this link:
