Empty strings turn into null

Hi. My program initializes a couple of variables to the empty string. When I save and reload the world they are getting null instead of empty. Is there a workaround or fix?

Create a new list of strings. Add an item to it, set the item's value to an empty string. This item wont change to null when you load the world. When the world starts have it set all strings that should be empty to the first item in the list of strings you just created.

Thanks! I too, have wanted to know how this was done for a long time, but I have always been too lazy to make a thread asking about it.
