Objects Moving out of site on Backgrounds

I teach a basic ALICE 2.2 programming class on MAC. We have found that some of the objects when added to the world will add but away from view. We have found that the carosel and the flying birds all move out of site and must be searched for inorder to manipulate their animation. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is this a MAC related issue?

Right click on the object's name in the object tree. In the pop-up menu, select Methods. The menu will cascade to an additional menu. Select "move to" and then "ground". The object will move to the center of the ground (which should be in camera view, unless you have previously moved the camera). Note that the object may look as though it is partially submerged in the ground. If so, use the mouse drag it up.
