Default AP Computer Science Exam - 04-03-2011, 05:15 PM

Well, the time is approaching. Thanks to the introduction of Alice and other programming languages, I have inspired to major in Computer Science. And because I am a Senior this year, I decided to take the Computer Science exam so that I can skip the introductory computer science class in college. Anyways, the exam is basically a test to test one's understanding of programming concepts, more specifically object-oriented programming since the test is based on Java. I have been self-studying for this test (I haven't been taking classes or anything) and I think after I'm done reading the not-too-big AP Computer Science textbook, I'll be ready for the exam in May. I was wondering if any of you have taken, are going to take, or decided not to take after consideration, the AP Computer Science exam. Any tips, advice, experiences, thoughts, can be posted in this thread. Or if you know Java in general, feel free to give me tips or things I should watch out for. Thanks!

Yeah I'm planning on taking the AP Computer Science Exam next year. I am going to be taking a class next AP Computer Science class next year in my senior year to prepare for it and do the same as you are, take it and pass so that I can get college credit for it when I go to college. I already took a Java class last year, and next year I will be taking a more advanced Java class, so I hope that I'll be prepared for it.

Good luck on it, I really hope you know a lot about programming in Java, or whatever you need to know to take that test lol. Tell me how it goes, how hard it is, and what you get on it!

Hahaha isn't that a perfect score or something? Thats not a very realistic goal to strive for unless your some wunderkind programming genius lol. I would shoot for at least a 3, hopefully a 4 when I take it.

Well, you can still get a bunch wrong and still get a five. Like the SAT Math II, you can get like 5 or something wrong and still get a perfect 800.

I'll probably take the exam 2 or 3 years later (more likely 3).

A 5 is what you SHOULD aim for. Always aim for the best!

Tell me what it's like after you take it, reuben.

I have been dead for quite some time now; not much hope for resurrection.

Will do. It's funny, a few months ago, I told my intro to computer programming teacher that I was studying for the CS exam and he gave me like 3 Java textbooks with like 500+ pages. I told him, "Thanks, I'll look at one of them! "
