Default From Alice to Straight Java programming - 02-02-2016, 01:39 AM

I'm curious, has anybody in here started out in Alice, learned a great deal, and then was able to go into straight Java programming? Were you able to program in 3D?

Thanks

Oh ok, that's very similar to Java. I think Java and C# are almost like twins.

It just takes time, the more work you put in the more you will learn.

You won't be able to go straight to another language by just learning from Alice, You'll still have to learn all the syntax of the language you are tryingto learn.

Alice has some pros and cons.

Pros:
1)Gives an idea of to generally structure your work
2)Builds confidence in working in 3D and some light weight programming language.

Cons) The simplified interface makes Alice easy to pick up, and may deter people from the other languages because it isn't as quick and easy to make something work.

So just take your time and learn what language you want to use and keep at it, remember, something that doesn't work is just another obstacle for you to get around and become that much better at coding.

If you are stuck on a project, check out the tutorials I made here at this link:

There are lots of tutorials on it so far, including some youtube videos, check it out

sfunk is right, but syntax isnt that hard to pick up. It just takes some practice to learn, and some determination.

Hey, just stumbled upon your question and realized that I had this experience.
Being accustomed to Alice I decided to switch to another programming language and opted for Java as it was one of the most popular languages and still such one.
Regarding programming in 3D I have some difficulties even now (not my strong point). However, I had to dig into Java deeply as felt the lack of experience.
So if you need to learn java online just explore online resources.
It helped me to shape basic knowledge and move forward.
