oh, that should have been a no brainer.

Really Cool Game! I liked the font.

found a tiny problem, easy fix.

If you walk over to where you shot, you can find your bullets again.

I know, I actually put that in there so that you can see the spread of the bullets. I mentioned it in one of my previous posts. That will be gone in the final game (which I have started creating a story for)

I am not sure what direction I want to go with this game. Would you guys like 1 opening cutscene at the beginning and then the rest of the story elements in game, or would you rather have cutscenes strewn about the whole game (I may have to divide it into episodes so that it doesn't get too complicated for alice to handle)

What is your stance on this. I think that from a story line perspective, it would be nice to have cutscenes in the game every so often, but I am worried that people who want to play a "game" will be drawn away from the cutscenes if they occur too often.

So basically, my question is "Do you want a more story driven game, or a more action driven game?"

I like telling compelling stories, but to be honest, it isn't always about what I want. What do you guys want?

Well here we go, the first update in a very long time. This is version 10 and I can definitely see the game morphing into what I want it to be. I have added music into the game from the Halo 2 soundtrack. The song is called "Earth City" and could quite possibly be one of the greatest songs ever written... well, video game soundtrack-wise. For the time being, if you don't like the music, just press enter to turn it off. I also updated the HUD, but below are all of the changes that were made in V10. I would love your feedback.

Additions/changes

1. Altered the HUD
2. Added music to the game (Press Enter to turn it off)
3. Altered the way the health bar looks and works
4. Health bar recharges at a faster rate but still takes 5 seconds when first shot
5. Made it so that the bullets from the burst fire go back to your gun
6. Fixed a “glitch” where if you were turning as fast as you can and then shot, the bullets would start being fired through the barrel of the gun instead of out of it.

What do you guys think of the new HUD? It was inspired by the Halo 3: ODST heads-up-display. I just wish I could make it slightly transparent though. Also, do you like the music? Lol, Marty O'Donnell = Absolutely AMAZING!!!!

Also, I have noticed that when you go absolutely crazy (and I mean totally crazy) on the keyboard and press a ton of buttons over and over, your character will eventually stand at an angle where you will walk into the ground, but that is only when you press a ton of buttons and basically TRY to do it. Other than that, all of the features are working pretty well with each other. Here are some notes that I though up to show you what you can do in the game and what you can't do.

1. When you overheat your sniper rifle, you cannot do anything that involves combat. You can't shoot, zoom in, etc. (At current, you can still roll left and right. I am debating if I should make it so that you cannot while the gun is overheated)
2. You can actually roll and zoom in with your sniper rifle at the same time and try to pull off a skill shot when you come back up straight. (I may make it so that while you are rolling, bullets do slightly more damage)
3. You can also roll and shoot your regular burst-fire weapon at the same time.

I am thinking about experimenting with a "Save feature" that when you get to certain area and you want to quit, a message will pop up telling you a number code. Then, the next time you start the game, you would be able to type that code in and it would start you off in the same spot. Also, I may do an upgrade system that works like the save system. The more you play, you could get unlocks which upgrade your weapons, and then every time you start you could type in a code and get those weapons back on other playthroughs. Now this is not a guaranteed feature, neither is the save feature, but I am going to experiment with it. They are just ideas.

I'm experimenting with similar fetures myself and let me tell you it's a lot of hassle. Resetting your game to the point where it feels like you just left off there is a hassle. I really hope you can achieve it and if you do can can i use that code? ^_^

Well I will have to see if I need to implement it. I think that I'm going to break the game into episodes. Each episode will be completely different gameplay wise (well, a few will be similar). If I am going to break it apart like this, I will have to see how long each episode is and see if there is a need for a save system like that. If there is, you can definitely use it. That is why I make games... to entertain, and to put forth ideas that others can use to make their own games.

I will be experimenting with the different gameplay elements over the next few days to see if they will work.

Okay everyone, I am now taking suggestions for the full game. I have a story (A pretty good one at that) and the basic episodes that I will make. These are the names of the episodes that I have planned.

Episodes:

1. Rescue
2. Secure
3. Highway to Hell (Going to try and make "realistic" vehicle physics)
4. Hidden
5. Infiltrate

I am very close to being done with the engine beta, so once that is done I will start on the full game. I think that I will have cutscenes at the beginning and end of each episode.

If you have any ideas for the full game feel free to post them here.
