How to play Alice worlds in your web browser
NOTE! You may need to have administrator privileges to install this software. If you are using a computer in a public lab, you may encounter restrictions that prevent you from installing this software, and you will not be able to see your Alice world without it. We are sorry about that, but this is not something the Alice system can fix. You will need to talk with your local system administrator.
You must download and install the following in order to view Alice 2.0 worlds in a web browser:
Instructions for Downloading Java
- If you already have Java installed, you can go directly to installing Java 3D. If you are not sure whether you have Java, you can check the Java detection page.
- Go to the Java download page and click the link "Free Java Download." Further instructions are provided based on your browser.
Instructions for Downloading Java 3D
- Go to the Java 3D download page.
- Click on "Download Java 3D API 1.5.x."
- Click "accept" to the license agreement.
- Depending on your operating system, the next link will vary. Click on the appropriate link to initiate download:

For Linux - After download has finished, launch the setup file and follow the on-screen directions.
Instructions for Downloading Java Media Framework (JMF)
- Got to the JMF download page.
- Click on "Download JMF 2.1.x Software."
- Click "accept" to the license agreement.
- Depending on your operating system, the next link will vary. Click on the appropriate link to initiate download:
