I'll try to post my progress here. There was a long period where I didn't use Alice for a couple months, but I'm back on now to work on my abandoned Halo project.
Lag was the main reason I stopped; having both an assault rifle and a DMR lagged like ****. But I've since replaced the DMR with an ordinary pistol.
Anyway, all animations for the MA37 are finished, and all animations for the pistol are also finished, except the empty reload (the normal reload is done) and melee.
The ammo system is completely integrated; you have a maximum amount of ammo for each gun, and can't shoot/reload after you run out. I also have a zoom system (kinda like ADS on other, non-futuristic FPSs). Like in Reach, if an enemy is targeted, the reticle will turn red. There is also reticle bloom, but that is just for effect.
The enemies have yet to be implemented; I just have a Spartan standing there that you can use as a target, he doesn't move.

And oh yeah, file size is less than 6 MB. Lag is minimal. There's a nice night sky and the ground is the "space" ground from the default templates.
EDIT: Forgot to add that sprinting works too. There is a timer, so you can only sprint non-stop for a certain amount of time. It recharges when you're not sprinting.

Empty reload for the pistol is finished, switching weapon animations is finished, basically everything but a radar and health/enemy system is working.
Enemies will probably come last; I'm going to work on "story" animations now.

Working on Elite animations. It is already capable of chasing you (very fast!) and attacking you with its energy sword, though no health system has been added yet. If you hit it, it responds.

Elite animations are finished. Health system is implemented as well. It follows the rules of Reach's health system, there's an energy shield that depletes before the health is damaged.
The energy shield recharges after a rest period, and the health regenerates to the nearest third, just like in Reach.
You can also see the energy shield flicker when you're hit. The elite also has a energy shield that flickers, but its is blue compared to yours, which is yellow.
There is a death animation for both you and the elite. When you die, the camera goes into a third-person perspective, like in Halo.
That's all I can think of for now...
EDIT: Oh yeah, the radar works as well. The elite's position is marked by a red dot.

I've changed the Elite's texture so that it now more resembles a zealot from Reach.
I have a working collision system, but since there aren't any obstacles (yet), the only thing that can collide is the elite; when you get very close to the elite, it moves away from you.
After you kill it, you can move its body around with this collision system for a "ragdoll" effect.
I also have crouching. When you press "z," you move down and your posture changes as well (the gun is drawn closer to your body).

Added another zealot; this one uses a plasma rifle instead of an energy sword. You can see the bolts fired from the rifle, and it's a very cool effect.
The health system has been revised so that the damages weapons deal are more similar to Reach.
Lag is minimal on the first play through; continued restarting of the world will cause some lag spikes. Overall, the gameplay is still very smooth.
File size is less than 9 MB, very small considering all of these features.
Oh yeah, pistol max ammo revised to 40, and per clip to 8 rounds.

Have you even read my posts? It's on the sixth post.
When you take damage, first it depletes the shield, and then begins to deplete your actual health. After 4 seconds of not getting hurt, the health regenerates to the nearest third, and then your shield begins to regenerate fully.
Update: I have three enemies, two with plasma rifles, and one with an energy sword.
Working on terrain collisions; I already have the terrain itself sorted out. I just need to make sure that you can't go past the boundaries.
