Billboards...

Hi everyone

I faced a little problem using Alice, the thing is that I want to incorporate billboards in one of my animations in Alice, yet the problem is that billboards turn out to have a background layer either black or white, so a particular cut out image comes out with a background. I have tried different file formats including PNG, but nothing works... So is it even possible to create something of your own and import it to Alice (maybe in 3D?) And btw the "import" function for some reason does not work... or I can not find where Alice imports the files.

Thanks a lot

Sabina

1. Your .png image has to use "alpha level" transparency - single color transparency (like used in .gif files) won't work. Photoshop, etc. support this, though MS Paint unfortunately doesn't. You can also use a free program, Irfanview (http://www.irfanview.net/).

2. You have to use the "Make Billboard" command to get the billboard into the world. You can then import alternate images for the billboard as textures.
