Midnight of July 31st.
Or if you want to be a stickler and pick me apart for minutiae: July 31, 2010 11:59.59 PM is the last second entries will be accepted. |
Can I be a stickler and ask for the preferred time zone? ;)
|
My time zone's GMT -5 (East coast US), but I try to take time zones into account when dealing with at-the-deadline submissions.
|
Oh ok then.

My Entry
1 Attachment(s)
Here is my entry. It may be a litle bug but please forgive me. It was the only way to make a good pic with what I had. Alice didnt want to work for me and I couldn't find any trees.
But I tbink this is good. It could really set the emotion of a game if I spent another hour making tree models and ading them in. Not to mention fixing the crane. Ok, sorry but just looked at the preview and it doesn't fit I will leave it there but will put the correct image at wikishare. http://wikisend.com/download/891286/capture00.jpg |

Tell me the truth jedi. I wont know until I get back from camping next thursday if you don't.
|
what, about your picture?
|
You said um. You sounded hesitant. Like what is your opinion on my picture.
|
Alrighty, month's end and plenty of entries. Nice job guys. The decisions were hard, but here are my finalists:
zarfang8's Hungry Penguins (funny with a nice composition) arty-fishL's Apocalypse (Excellent detail. Try as I might, I can't find a thing out of place or odd looking. Wonderful work.) dubastot's An Awkward Twist (Simple, yet quietly amusing) Honorable Mentions: jediaction's untitled second entry (I like the urban cityscape) DensetsuNoKaboom's Cult (An odd coolness to it) room14's War (nice detail) Thanks again to all the entrants, your participation made this contest the best it could possibly be in terms of diversity and healthy competition. So, I'm putting up a poll for three finalists and y'all can vote who rules and who drools, k? |
Oh the name of my second picture. Oops, forgot to say the title. Its Jedi Action City

hey x2495iiii i though your screenshot was entered too
i really liked that one :D |
I did like your one X. Too modest?
Jedi, your screenshot is good, but the game that goes with that screenshot is better. |
haha, thanks, i'll take that as a compliment
|
I'd already said I wasn't entering mine, but thanks for the compliments.
The poll expires in ten days, guys, so whoever hasn't voted, get to it! |

I know the competition is over, but I think this is a cool screenshot, so here it is anyway (obviously not for the comp).
|
Nice. Try changing the bullet's color to black, then changing it's emissive color to light gray or gray. That'll make it look less polygonal.
|
Fail
Being nitpicky, that isn't just a bullet; it's an entire cartridge. Only the bullet should exit the barrel. Lots of people seem to make that mistake.
|
ok, its gold cos its a golden bullet, but I will try something with it anyway. This screenshot goes with a video (a trailer for storm), its a slow motion action bullet shot; like the killzone bullet trailer.

The cartridge shouldn't be blown apart, it stays whole and is ejected out the right side of the gun. If you look at the 'bullet,' the actual bullet is the tip.

I reviewed the bullet being fired and the casing should be blown like that, but as you said only the tip should remain, but it does look cooler with the whole thing.
I just searched google sketchup for a bullet with trail, so thats the model I got. I will try the texture thing, sounds like a good idea. Killzone 2 bullet trailer |

I know that. But the whole bullet looks better |

Yeah I was converting some models yesterday and I found that when they're low poly they can look...well...low poly. So I played around with the color schemes and found that changing those two colors makes it look considerably better. The downside is that it can be slightly darkened and is much less responsive to light. So it's not a perfect technique, but it's definitely useful.
Here's an example of what it looks like when changed: |
It looks as if Hungry Penguins is the winner.
|
Cool/
|
So, what does he win? (Besides bragging rights.)
|
Yah. Oh! Mabye he gets to host the next contest?
|
Upcoming Contest?
When and what's the next contest going to be?
|
Didn't think you guys cared enough to merit holding another contest.
Am I wrong? |
hmm... i think you are! =P
i want another contest!!!!
Hey you know what. I'll host it |
I don't think anyone but me can host contests. I've seen people try and their posts get instantly deleted.
|
Well, it says it needs to be aproved by a moderator. Please accept it. I want to host one. Im your friend right:D
|
It doesn't give me a way to accept it. At least not one that I can see.
|
How about a contest for the greatest game concept rather than ranking the actual game itself.

aww |
How about a contest for the greatest game concept rather than ranking the actual game itself.
That's not too bad of an idea. Maybe we could take the best concept and try to make it using Alice, but as a community, not individually. We could take turns working on certain parts of it, maybe Dameria could add collision detection and arty or zone could add some scripts, etc. That could be cool. |
I like it! But how would we post our projects. In game form?
