I think I know what it's missing. The game doesn't have a enemy or threat. In Osmos, your goal is to absorb the other motes or be absorbed.

Perhaps in this game, you could have other orbs that try to absorb you, or shoot at you or something... Maybe the black hole could slowly pull you into it and kill you if you get too close?

(BTW: I noticed the font in your picture is not the same when I load the game. I'm guessing you're using a font I don't have. Maybe you should switch it to something like Arial or Tahoma)
