time elapsed does not reset each time the movie is run, nor does it reset if the movie is unloaded and reloaded. It does reset when Alice is restarted and the movie is reopened. If you want something that works in all cases, I would suggest capturing the time elapsed in a world variable at the beginning of the movie and then subtracting this value from time elapsed to give you the "true" elapsed time.
