getting position in Alice 3

Default getting position in Alice 3 - 04-06-2014, 10:35 AM

i wonder that how can i get an object's position in Alice 3?

i found that Alice 2 has a function supporting this but not Alice 3

You can get an objects position by clicking an object in the scene, and you can see its X, Y, Z positions,
or you can use the drop down menu of all the objects, and click on them to get the same coordinates.
the boxes for XYZ coordinates can be seen in the Scene view editor, and is based on the objects center.
You can change their positions simply by changing the #s so you can put them in exact points you want them to be

Yes, you can view it's static position in a scene before it starts, but Not During the animation, as far as I can tell.
There is a function called getVantagePoint(), that is supposed to return a variable of type vantagePoint, but available documentation would indicate that neither the type, nor the function() is currently operational in Alice3.
Depending on your need, however, there are numerous ways to track and follow an object using the available functions.
