Alice is a great source of learning. Alice Waters has always believed that the best food is made from the freshest seasonal ingredients and is committed to working with the local farmers who supply her Berkley restaurant Chez Panisse. In 1996, she collaborated with Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School and founded The Edible Schoolyard, a program that has grown to include a one-acre garden, a kitchen classroom and curriculum that covers the full cycle of food, from farm to table.
The Edible Schoolyard students are exposed to the ideas of sustainable growth, gardening and cooking. This model has proven to be an effective example for many other schools around the nation to follow.So it',s so important.
