Default [Alice 3] How do I use billboards properly? Lightning issues - 07-10-2012, 03:39 PM

Hi,

I am trying to use billboards, but when I place a billboard, the image is darker then it should be.

Turns out that the Sun is lighting the scene from somewhere above in the sky. If I give the billboard a 0.125 turn backwards, the sun will illuminate the billboard and the image will show proper colors. The problem now is the the image is skewed.

so my questions are:
1) How can I place a billboard to show its proper colors without giving it a turn backwards?

2) Why isn't lightning objects available in Alice 3? The lightning gallery is empty.

Thanks for the help.

Bye,
RaamEEIL

Change the seldom used property "emissive color" to white. That should make it immune to shadows and poor lighting, as lightning would be.

Thanks x2495iiii.

I don't have the property "emissive color" in Alice-3, but following the idea behind your suggestion I've tried changing the values of
Scene->AmbientLightBrightness & Scene->GlobalBrightness.

The problem with these properties is that changing them "burns" the shading on other objects, so the damage to the scene is greater than the profit of illuminating the billboard.

I'd be happy if you have any other tricks for Alice-3 billboards.
