9-10-2010 update does not play audio. Previous update does.

Latest update from 09-10-2010 will not play imported audio. I get an error in simulation and animation stops. The update posted 8-15-2010 [I think that was the date] works fine with audio.

Not sure if this is a bug necessarily, but thought it was worth posting. Being a teacher, it was a frustrating discovery which only happened after I had reimaged my entire lab.

Oh and I am using Windows XP still. Other than the audio issue, it seems to work fine.

Thoughts?

Are you sure that it is audio that you could previously play in earlier versions of Alice? There are a lot of audio files that make Alice crash, so the audio problem is not that uncommon. The easiest way to fix it is to import the audio into Audacity, export it as a .wav file, and then import it into the Alice world. If it was an audio that worked in previous versions of Alice, but only when you updated did the audio not work, then it might be a problem with the update, but I would still recommend using the Audacity solution just in case.

These were files that worked fine in the older 2.2 update, but do not work in the latest update.

Also, I did try your suggestion with audacity with a new wav file and new animation and got the same error.

After teaching my students to import/use sounds last week (I think we're still on the August version; I only re-image between terms) I wish I had this problem. I'm going to make them bring headphones next week.
