Default The Mouse... - 11-10-2008, 01:14 PM

So, I was wondering...

How would I let the mouse move the camera, e.g. Halo, how if you move the mouse up the camera would look up?

Ideas, or anything would be appreciated XD

To let the mouse move the camera throughout the entire game, follow these steps:

  1. Click the "Create new event" button in the "events" box.
  2. In the drop down menu that appears, click "let mouse move camera".
  3. Click the "Create new event" button in the "events" box.
  4. In the drop down menu that appears, click "let mouse orient camera".
  5. When you run your alice game, click in the screen and drag to move the camera around
Your "Events" window should look like this when you're done (When started from scratch):
Code:
When world starts, do [world.my first method]
Let [MOUSE] move the camera
Let [MOUSE] orient the camera

To make the mouse capable of moving up,
I'd use the following method:
  1. Click the "create new event" button in the events box.
  2. Select "When a key is typed" to put the event in.
  3. Right click the new event and roll over "change to" and then click "while a key is pressed".
  4. copy the new event so you have two "while [button] is pressed" statements.
  5. For one of them, put in the button you want to press to bring the camera up. Assign another button to the other one for bringong down the camera.
  6. For the during setting for the two events, enter in turn camera forward/backward .1 revolution in 1 second.
  7. When you're done, your script will look like this:
Code:
Let [MOUSE] move the camera
Let [MOUSE] orient the camera
While [BUTTON] is pressed
Begin: NONE
During: camera turn [backward] [.1 revolutions] [dururation 1 second] [style abrubtly]
End: NONE
While [BUTTON] is pressed
Begin: NONE
During: camera turn [forward] [.1 revolutions] [dururation 1 second] [style abrubtly]
End: NONE
I've made a copy of it with a few extra fetures that stop jerkyness and other stuff.
