Alice 3 quits when launched

Hello,

I am trying to install Alice 3 on Macs in our elementary school computer lab. OS is 10.5.8. I just installed Alice 3 on Friday on 3 machines and on each, when launched, I see the Alice splash screen and then it disappears and nothing happens. I tried to search for previous instances of this and saw that it might be related to permissions. We checked that all subfolders have read/write permission. Any other suggestions? The kids are excited to use Alice 3. Thanks.
