I was just wondering, does the range function for lights actually do anything? I haven't been able to find what it does

I tried messing with it, but didn't get any tangible results. I assume it has to do with how far the light's rays reach, though.

No it doesn't, but I really wish it did, that would help a lot in some cases. I am pretty sure that even if you set it to a really low number, the range of the light's rays will be the same. If I am wrong tell me though because I have not messed with the lights in a while, so I forgot.
