Distortion while scrolling

Hi,
I have Windows XP SP3 with plenty of HD space and 1G ram. It seems when I have a world open, and I scroll down to view the methods they get distorted like a water color out in the rain. If I click on something it jumps back clear and in line again. I tried deleting and re-installing a couple of times with no change. My graphics card works fine with everything else and has never given me a problem. Any ideas??
