Installing Alice beta 3.0

Hello everyone:
I am trying to install Alice (beta) v.3 and I get the following error message

"Java SE Development Kit (JDK0 was not found on this computer
JDK 5 or JDK 5 is required for installing the Hello World. Make sure tha tthe JDK is properly installed and run installer again. You can specify valid JDK location using -javahome installer argument
To download the JDK, visit http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads"

I cannot continue. I've downloaded the java se developer's kit and I still receive the error. I am using OS is Windows 7.. although I tried on Winxp and received the same error. Any help would be appreciated.
