Default Texture limit - 02-11-2010, 03:58 PM

I was wondering what is the max pixel count of textures and billboards an do they take up the most mem next to sound

I dont know if they even have a limit. I just bring them in forever. Check out my Mirrors edge. its got lots of billboards

He means how big can the pictures be when you apply them to objects for the pictures to still look right.

The answer: I don't know. I've never tested applying an abnormally large texture to a regular-sized object. I know that Alice will automatically alter the dimensions of the picture to fit the object, which will not always turn out as attractively as you might want. I suppose if I was you, I'd try resizing the picture with GIMP or Paint or some other picture editor and try applying the resized pictures to the object to see what works best.

Trial-and-error. That's what I do when I'm stuck without a clue.

Ok, an about ho much mem do they take up in alice because when I would save my midgar than tha bar would say like "small building_ita..." for a split second Than when it saved the texture, it would stay on it for several seconds

It doesn't stop saving or freeze or anything and actually it only happens when I Save As. It just takes way longer to save a texture
