A little hard to explain - but you are using an event that stops immediately when the key is released - which generally will be in the middle of executing the method. Hence any loops, etc. will be abnormally terminated - giving the error you see.
The answer is to move the actual code into a method and start and stop it with boolean control variables set by events. Then the method will actually complete and then repeat or not depending on the condition of the control variable.
Do a search of the forum on "walk" for some more detailed examples.
