Cursor and speech bubble problem

I installed Alice on a number of laptops running Windows XP. On some laptops (not all) I have experienced 2 problems:
1) The cursor turns from an arrow shape to an hourglass shape. It does not affect how it works but its just very annoying.
and
2) The speech bubble shows up to the left of the object.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Alice without any change to these problems.
Does anybody have any suggestions. Thanks.
