How would I go about creating a gird overlay on the ground if I wanted to say, may a board game?

well a board game you could just use squares from the shape objects, or there is a member who created a massive grid for people to use, it's in a large download with a bunch of other community member made/converted objects.

Sorry, there is no "easy" way to really make a grid. You have to individually drag in and set each of the squares and such.

I cant remember exactly which thread it was, try community objects in the search bar, if not ask arty fishl since he was the one who created the file with all the objects.

Is it a chessboard or checkers board you want?

I don't know if this is suitable, if you want a thick one each square as a subpart just ask.
