Default Anything military - 10-07-2010, 09:27 PM

I'm planning on making an Operation: Iraqi Freedom/Desert Storm sort of movie and I need more models that would pertain to a militarized desert environment.

My basic needs:

Some sort of middle eastern desert cottage

Sandbags, entrenchments, foxhole type things

LOTS of people, like at least 10 different people models(5 USMC, 5 Insurgent)

Gun models WITHOUT the hands on them(this is going to be a movie, not an FPS, I don't want a guy putting his gun down and you see his hands are still attached to the gun)

Vehicles such as: A technical w/MG in the bed, Humvee w/ or w/out a minigun, some sort of M2 Bradley IFV(small barrelled tank), an Abrams looking thing, maybe a large airplane that could resemble a C-130, a littlebird chopper or a blackhawk chopper either one will do, and an apache if possible.

Now I know this is an extremely picky and tall order, but it would be FANTASTIC if every one could pitch in, I've been dying to make some sort of movie, but have never had the models to do it.

Thanks in advance,
FatRefrigerator

Default Update: Initial testing - 10-07-2010, 10:43 PM

I did a test to see if I could even grasp the basics to making a war movie.

GUNFIRE!

So I did a simulation w/ M16A3 and it seems successful so check it out...

Have you tried looking at arty's community objects post? A lot of that stuff (some people, sandbags, weapons, and vehicles for sure) is in there.

There are lots of buildings in the gallery, especially the web gallery. Odds are one of them can be altered to look somewhat middle-eastern.

Same with the tank, helicopter, and plane.

yeah I have "community objects" folder but like I'm looking for a real looking M1A2 and a real looking apache and/or blackhawk. and i don't think the folder has sandbags.

and it only has 2 models for people and one of them is a SWAT team member

It does have sandbags, you just have to look.

Is this m1 thing real enough?

And for the person, just retexture him in GIMP And give him a green camo type uniform.

Save him as a class object (.a2c), then extract the contents from the .a2c file, find the texture (usually located in a subfolder called texture and in .png form), then edit the texture in a picture editor (I use GIMP) and change the parts of his texture the make up his uniform.

if you can't do this one cause it looks quite intricate use your original one.

btw, thank you so much for all the help

Way to brag, jedi. Then why don't you get some more? Namely Covenant models?

If you've found any good, relatively low-poly models, then I could convert them; just post the link(s).

The main reason for people not converting them for you was that we wanted you to learn how to convert yourself (like I did, and I've built up a pretty good collection).
The second, also vital reason may be that we (or probably more suitable, I) don't know how to make functional subparts/reposition pivots.

And, x2495iiii, if you do know how to change pivot points in Blender, could you teach me?

Danke.
