"error in attempting to render scene" - Alice 3.0 beta

Hello all. I just started to work with Alice 3.0 beta and whenever I move my cursor over a scene, whether I am editing the scene or if I hover over the preview window in the upper left hand corner of the screen, a red error temporarily fills the scene. If I continue to move the cursor, the error disappears. It's sort of random when it appears, but it happens ever time I hover over the scene. Can someone help me out by letting me know that this is a known bug or if it's something wrong on my end.

same issue on running Alice 3.1.35.0 on windows xp sp2

The red screen that you are seeing more often than not is a result of outdated video drivers on your machine that do not support the openGL features that are used in Alice 3.1. There is information on how to update your drivers at http://help.alice.org

Later today there should be an updated release of Alice 3.1 that should also help with this (it will be either Alice 3.1.44.0.0 or later).
