vista with service pack1 issue

With alice 2.0 on my vista computer i go to add the text and it gives me an unknown error. I luckly do have xp also so i can run it but if anyone has any insite on what i can do to get it to work properly in vista it would be a big help
the problem is only happening when i click add 3d text. I think it might be service pack one from vista though. could someone help me with this i need to complete an assignment for school
