Just thought I'd add a note to anyone hunting for info on bloated file sizes and sound....
I had three worlds that I'd put sounds into. I was just goofing around with the feature, and had added some large .mp3s without editing them down to reasonable sound bites. I'd notice how large the file became, and overlooked the trashcan feature.
Anyway, once I'd dragged all of the sound files to the trashcan everything looked fine on the surface. Physically looking at the files though showed that while 1 file was drastically smaller, two of them didn't seem to have gotten smaller at all; comparing them to their previous back-ups it looked like they may actually have gotten about half-a-meg bigger.
I looked in the .a2w compressed files and verified that the .mp3s were gone. I thought maybe with all the objects I've been adding perhaps the size was legitimate, but it continued to bug me.
I unpacked the .a2w file and recompressed it with winzip. I thought that doing this might corrupt files so I made a copy. It worked great. The file was 20 megs, now it's just 3.
Thanks again.
