Default UTF-8>International Characters? - 12-28-2011, 08:38 PM

I want to use Alice for teaching / learning Chinese-English.
Is there a plug-in that will let Alice accept international characters?

Specifically I am only trying to paste Chinese characters into the say method, followed by my own mp3 sound translation.

Someone who knows more Java than I do can probably write a script that changes the charset of Speech Bubbles from Unicode to Chinese or Shift-JIS or something.
Unfortunately I cannot do this.
However I have located the relevant classes at
edu.cmu.cs.stage3.alice.core.bubble.Bubble
and
edu.cmu.cs.stage3.alice.core.bubble.SpeechBubble

A temporary way to get around this lack of character encoding is to use 3D Text. You can type your text in (No copypasta necessary) and change the font to something that can output Chinese.

You can then change the extrusion and curvature until the text is as flat as it would be in a speech bubble and all is well.
