Cannot Create Java VM

**Cannot Create Java VM -** 09-25-2008, 03:00 PM

I know, I know, this HAS been posted before. But a LONG time ago (ref: janeevans post date 4/14/08 and dlnw post dated 11/5/2006). I just downloaded Alice, and get the same error - Can't create Java VM. I'm running the latest Java (perhaps that's the problem?) v.6 update 7 (build 1.6.0_07-b06). Have Alice unzipped in an Alice folder on the Desktop.
Also, the first time I tried to run it, it was looking for a folder named "Required". I added the folder, and it proceeded to the Java error. Could something be wrong with my unzip or download?
NOTE: Alice is running in the background. I have to close it from the Task Pane

I am also facing somewhat the same problem. I downloaded Alice fine but when I tried to run it , it gave me an error message like "Load library jvm.dll not found" so I copied jvm.dll in the directory and tried running it again. Then it gave me the error message"can not create Java VM" . I downloaded Java in all possible ways. But my IE doesnot show it , I dont know if its my Java problem or Alice. I have vista home basic . Can anyone help?

I had the same problem, and the problem is that yo extract wrongly from the zip file. You have to select all the files, and then click on button "Extract", then you have to select a folder where you want to extract Alice, and that's all. This action will create the correct folders and subfolders which are necessary to run the program. I hope this is helpful
