In the author's solution to the firetruck problem in chapter 5 of the text Learning to Program with Alice 2nd edition there is an instruction "whichPerson move to <None> ..." How do you get <None> as an object?

You can't. It only happens if you have an object that is referenced by a method, then removed (and selecting the remove all references button in the warning screen).
