Default Where is the sand texture - 11-04-2008, 11:44 PM

I am working on War Zone 2 and when I started out, I used a grass texture as the default ground texture. But now I have a problem, I NEED the sand texture for use in the movie but cannot seem to find it. Does anyone know where this texture is?

Don't know if this will help or not, but take a look at the following file:

...\Alice\Required\templateWorlds\sand.a2w

Maybe you could import it into the ground property window of your world.

Good Luck,

This is your lucky day. I figured it out, and the results are very interesting.

As it turns out, a texture is apparently nothing more than a jpeg file.

Start a new world and select the sand template.

Position the camera so that the sand fills the entire view.

Run the world and take a picture, which will be saved somewhere on your computer as a jpeg file.

Load the world that needs the sand texture. I assume that you want it to be on the ground. Select the properties window on the ground, open the Texture Maps menu at the bottom of the window and and click the import texture map button.

Specify the jpeg file that you just saved.

Then go back up to the properties item titled skin texture. Open the pulldown list and select the new texture that you just added to your world.

Note the cool texture that I stretched onto the ground in the attached picture of a world.

You know, there's a new version of alice called "storytelling alice that promotes multiple scenes. You might try this for a whole new map.

Well actually, Dick Baldwin's way worked flawlessly. Also, I wouldn't be able to do that because I the movie is far along already and I was not going to start over. But thanks anyway. Thank you for helping me, that desert ground is obviously critical to the movie because War Zone 2 begins where the first one left off.

I have the same problem. The ground textures of the world are not present as a picture-file and it is not possible to import another texture with the "import texture map" button. I found the following solution:
Create a new world with the sand texture. Make a right click to the ground-object in the Object Tree and save the ground as a new object. Click File --> Import and select the new ground-object. The new object arrives as ground2 in the Object-Tree. In the properties of the new ground-object you find the sandTexture and you can copy it with the clipboard to your first ground. Then you can delete the new ground2.
