Default Tutorial FAQ - 02-28-2010, 12:57 PM

I've heard a lot of people complain about the tutorials not working. If this is you, please read the FAQ.

Q: This is the first time I've opened the tutorial, and it won't run!
A: Try restarting Alice.

Q: I've restarted alice, but it still wont run!
A: Go into Alice's "Required" folder. Replace the "tutorial" and "tutorialWorlds" with the folders in this zip: Tutorial Files.zip

Q: I want another option!
A: In Alice's Required folder, run the exe named "IfAliceFailsTryThis" and see if that works.

Q: I changed my files and used yours, restarted alice, and it still won't work!
A: (Applies to windows Vista/7) Go to your alice application. Right click on the exe file, and select properties. Under the compatibility tab, select run in compatibility mode for Windows XP.

Q: It still won't work!
A: Try deleting the current instalation of alice, and downloading another copy from the Alice Download Page:
Alice 2.0 Alice 2.2

Q: Nothing chaned at all!
A: Update Java.

Q: None of this helps.
A: Collect as much detail about the problem as possible. (Error messages, steps you took, system specs, Alice version, which tutorial you used, etc.) Once you've gotten as much information on the problem as possible, post a thread in the Bugs and Troubleshooting Forum, and someone in the vast ALice community will be glad to help you out.

It seems that this FAQ has evolved into Alice generally not starting, as well as tutorials, but try all of these before you say it won't work!
