Computer Programming/Digital Media Production Instructor – After-School
Museum of the Moving Image seeks a highly talented educator with a strong technical background to teach computer programming and digital media production to high-school students at The Young Women’s Leadership School of Queens this spring. The instructor must be available to develop curriculum between November and January. The program runs once a week for two hours from February to early June and will include workshops related to traditional animation, 2- and 3D computer animation, and computer programming. The instructor should be familiar with the programming environments Alice and Scratch.
The Computer Programming/Digital Media Production Instructor reports to the Director of Education and has the following responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the Museum’s staff to prepare comprehensive program curriculum
• Develop clear lesson plans for each session, to be approved by the Director of Education
• Teach weekly program sessions
• Supervise and guide program participants as they create their projects
Qualifications:
• Experience teaching computer programming and/or digital media production to high-school students
• Previous experience with Alice and Scratch required; Processing, Flash, and iStopMotion a plus
• Working knowledge of film/video production, animation, and digital media production
• Undergraduate degree; graduate degree preferred
